It is refreshing to find that one group of Los Angeles “shooters” is actually photographers who visit a place together and combine their results on the Web. Sometimes they shoot the same subject, and it’s fascinating to compare the different results.
Here are some examples of their visit to the Getty.
This first group is by Tom Yi, whose image above makes me wonder if he visited on the same day as this photographer. Those clouds!
Light plays with architecture here in the Museum Entrance Hall, where visitors first enter.
Look how the photographer builds energy and dynamism by echoing curves of the freeway and railing. The clouds almost seem to be cooperating!
Here the emphasis is on texture, light, and the contrast between man-made and natural structures.

No wonder Los Angeles is the home of special effects.
Our thanks to Tom Yi for sharing his talent with us. Our next post will show another LAshooter’s take on the Getty.
